Here at our transmission repair shop in Santa Rosa California we recently ran across an interesting scenario that I thought I would share with all of you. We had a 2002 Acura MDX that came in leaking from a crack in the transmission housing. This crack was found to be, upon removal and tear down, to be caused from an overheating of 2nd gear. This overheating was from lack of lubrication that Acura actually put out a recall on and this vehicle must have slipped through the cracks. Long story short | Acura covered this vehicle under warranty at no charge to the customer.
The 5R55W Transmission used in the Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator and Jaguar vehicles has been plauged with problems since its inception. The Transmission is notorious for loss of reverse and slipping in forward gears leading to complete failure in as low as 30,000 miles. Transmission Repair | Santa Rosa Transmission has determined many of these problems to be correctable during transmission rebuild.
Life time transmission Fluids. Transmission Repair | Santa Rosa Ca. It is becoming more and more apparent every day in the Transmission Industry that “lifetime” is only a description the manufacturer uses to describe the period of time they wish a transmission to last before they sell you a new transmission. It is strongly recomended you change your transmission fluid and more importantly your transmission filter every 20,000 miles. It has been the experience of Santa Rosa Transmission repair that the “lifetime” of on automatic transmission not serviced as described to be 100,000 miles.
